Church Promotes Healthy Lifestyle for Students

Feb. 23, 1999

Silver Spring, Maryland, USA … [ANN]  The Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America is promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyle for students through a school-based contest.

The contest invites submissions of videos, essays, poetry and computer programs that emphasize a healthy lifestyle from school students. Using the theme “What Being Healthy Means to Me” the contest aims to encourage participants to think about healthy living and its impact on students grade 1 through 12. Submissions for the contest are due April 2.

“As a Church, we want to emphasize the importance of healthy living as part of our message which focuses on the whole person—the spiritual, as well as mental aspects,” says DeWitt Williams, director of Health Ministries for the Adventist Church in North America. “By involving students themselves we believe the impact of this program will be much more significant. Our commitment is to helping students recognize the essential aspects of good health that can help ensure a high quality of life.” [Jonathan Gallagher]
