ADRA Employee Receives Prestigious Award

Manukau City, New Zealand…[Todd Reese/ANN Staff] The New Zealand government granted the Queen’s Service Medal for Public Service to Robert Patton, an Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) employee in Indonesia, Dec. 31. The prestigious award was granted to 36 people last year from various parts of New Zealand for their valuable and faithful services to the community.

Patton has spent the last two years as associate country director for ADRA Indonesia, managing a large mother and child health project there.

“Throughout Robert’s years with ADRA he has always shown a commitment to serving others,” said Charles Sandefur, ADRA president. “It’s no surprise to me that his dedication and service are being honored in this way.”

Present in more than 125 countries, ADRA provides individual and community development and disaster relief without regard to political or religious association, age or ethnicity.

Additional information about ADRA can be found on its Web site at www.adra.org.

First Prophecy Message Broadcast in Martinique

Forte-de-France, Martinique…[Libna Stevens/ANN Staff]

For the first time on public television in Martinique, a prophecy seminar was broadcast featuring a Seventh-day Adventist leader.

The 45-minute sermon, presented by Guy Roger, president of the church in the French Antilles Guiana region, was broadcast on Antilles Television and via satellite in France Dec. 25.

Roger, who has held seven prophecy seminars in French Guiana, Martinique and Guadeloupe, says the church is negotiating with public television and a cable company to broadcast regular programs in those areas. Plans are also underway to record programs for the Adventist Satellite Network (ADSAT) in South America.

Martinique is an island in the French Antilles with a population of 360,000 with more than 13,000 Adventists.
