United States—Two students from South Lancaster Adventist Academy in South Lancaster, Massachusetts were killed in a car accident on Jan. 20, while another died eight days later from injuuries sustained in the crash. Killed on Jan. 20 were senior Victor Owusu and junior Ian Brown. Jody Fouche, also a junior, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, Jan. 28. Junior Nelson Perry was briefly hospitalized at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. Police continue their investigation, but suspect that speed was a factor in the tragedy.

Venezuela and Malawi—Seeking to improve the quality of care for their patients and improve the services offered to the local community, one hospital and four clinics in Venezuela and three hospitals and 17 clinics in Malawi joined Adventist Health International (AHI) late last year. This brings AHI’s total health care facilities to more than 70 clinics and 30 hospitals in 12 countries. Established in 1998 with two hospitals, AHI uses the many resources of Loma Linda University, Loma Linda University Medical Center, and the expertise of faculty, staff and graduates to improve the quality of service at these institutions. AHI also works to establish guidelines for financial stability at each of its institutions.

United States—The Web site of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan has won two awards since the launch of its new design in April 2005. Andrews received a silver Pride of CASE V award for Best Institutional Web site in December, competing against other colleges and universities in Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio. The award was announced at the CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) District V conference in Chicago, Illinois. In August, Andrews won an award of excellence in the category of “Entire Web site” in the University & College Designers Association’s (UCDA) 35th Annual Design Competition. The Andrews site was chosen to receive one of 15 awards of excellence out of nearly 100 electronic media entries from schools across the country.
