Religious Freedom: Security, Faith Balance Discussed in IRLA Journal

Guatemala: Church Members Among Dead in Mudslides

Just days after Guatemala was hit by Hurricane Stan, which caused deadly mudslides that buried hundreds of people, the Seventh-day Adventist Church is still trying to account for missing church members. So far, church leaders confirm 22 members are dead and nearly 3,400 members' families' homes were damaged or destroyed in the wake of the hurricane and mudslides.

A new governing board will run the Adventist Television Network (ATN) operation of the Hope Channel. The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) International is revising its bylaws and taking the responsibility for its name and logo to its board of directors. World Church: Faith and Science Council Voted, Replaces BRI Science Commission

A 28-member Faith and Science Council that will tackle continuing issues of creation, science and the Bible has been voted by leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist world church. The action came during executive committee meetings on Oct. 12 as part of the movement's annual business meetings.
