ADRA response

In response to health concerns over Ecuador's increasingly active Tungurahua volcano, ADRA is distributing disposable facemasks and eye solution to an estimated 4,500 families. The facemasks serve to reduce inhalation of volcanic ash particles present in the air to those living in close proximity to the billowing volcano.

Christmas Mutirão

Musical performances and tributes mark the end of “Mutirão de Natal” every year in South America. The nationally televised event raises money for food and clothing for the poor. It was held this year at Sao Paulo Adventist University – home to more than 8,000 students and the largest university in the denomination.

Christmas outreach

Hundreds of boxes containing natural foods are distributed to more than 450 people in the Mendes Caetano neighborhood in Tibagi, Paraná, Brazil, as part of Christmas Mutirão, a nation-wide Christmas charity outreach and fundraiser. The annual tradition is sponsored by the Adventist Church and supported by numerous A-list celebrities, including soccer icon Pelé.

Most NBC affiliates in the United States are set to broadcast the one-hour program of various musical performances, as well as preaching by Dr. Carlton P. Byrd, on Christmas day.
