The Adventist Church release film ahead of 2017 Creation Sabbath

Leaders for GRI hope every Adventist member watches and shares “The Hole” with their friends and family.

The Geoscience Research Institute (GRI) and The John 10:10 Project have released “The Hole,” a 5-minute film that goes straight to the heart of the Gospel. “The Hole” has been prepared especially for sharing via social media and showing in churches, schools and other institutions to celebrate Creation Sabbath on October 28.

“I love how beautifully ‘The Hole’ encapsulates the Gospel using an illustration from nature,” Timothy G. Standish, a scientist and film maker working at the Geoscience Research Institute. “The Hole” uses footage shot in the mountains of Mexico where monarch butterflies spend the winter. It also contains video filmed in locations as diverse as Hong Kong, Chicago and London.

Narrating “The Hole” Alvin Chea of the Emmy Award winning group Take 6 guides viewers on a journey toward understanding how the creation is an inseparable part of the Gospel. But more than this, the creation itself through the process of butterfly metamorphosis provides a beautiful analogy to the seemingly impossible transformation of being born again in Christ. Through his contribution, Mr. Chea also illustrates that the study and celebration of creation is not the exclusive domain of theologians and scientists, but something that should be celebrated in the arts, where beauty and design are actually understood!

“My hope is ‘The Hole’ will be seen by every member of the Adventist Church on Creation Sabbath,” says Standish. “Yes, it is wonderful that it will be shown in Adventist Churches around the world, but more than that, this is a film that can be proudly shared with our friends; those who belong to other Christian denominations as well as those who are not yet Christians. The creation is beautiful, the Gospel is beautiful, and these two amazing truths come together in this wonderful short film.”

It is up to church leaders, pastors, congregations and members to use the “The Hole” as a tool for encouraging faith and sharing the Gospel. Anyone can be part of the project by sharing this stunning resource for the celebration of Creation Sabbath on October 28.

All that is necessary, is sharing “The Hole” through social media, or downloading the movie file from www.creationsabbath.net and showing it your Sabbath Schools, Churches and homes. In addition, “The Hole” will be available on the Geoscience Research Institute Facebook page and can be easily shared from there with all of our Facebook friends.

All Seventh-day Adventist Church affiliated entities and organizations are called upon to share “The Hole” in every way that they can on and before Creation Sabbath, October 28. “My hope is that churches will have ‘The Hole’ available for streaming directly from their webpages and that the same will be true on Conference, Union and Division websites” says Standish. “Think of the thousands, no, millions who we can reach with the beautiful message of this Gospel-centered film!”
