During the January 27 Sabbath morning service, at the Podolsk Adventist Church in Kiev, Stanislav Nosov, head of the Adventist Church in Ukraine, talked about the tragedy of the Holocaust.

At the beginning of his sermon, Nosov noted that “International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust” was established by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 2005, and that during the 12 years of the Holocaust (from 1933 to 1945) more than 60% of European Jews were killed.

Nosov stressed this catastrophe, which claimed the lives of six million Jews, was due to evil, sin and violence that are still being committed in the world today. "On this day of mourning and sorrow we look our way to heaven, to the Lord, to the Holy Scripture, to the treasure of the Holy Word, which the Lord reveals to us as a consolation, as a hope for that beautiful and perfect that God has prepared for those who love Him,” he said.

Cyril Andreev, the leader of the divine service, told how important it is to remember the Holocaust as a tragedy of the Second World War, its scale and consequences in Europe, including in the Ukraine.

"We should remember this! And the more time passes, the more it needs to be remembered and talked about,” Andreev said and called for praying that the horrors of the Holocaust would not happen again. After that, Andreev called on those present together with the whole world to honor the memory of the Holocaust victims with a minute of silence.

Divine service was broadcast by the television channel "Nadiya.” Vyacheslav Demyan, CEO of Media Group "Nadiya" said: "For the second year in the program of worship in Podolsk spiritual center, we focus on topics that are relevant to the public. We cannot be detached from the tragedies and experiences of the society in which we live.”
