In Tahiti, the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Family Ministries director in was appointed as the first woman to the government’s Council of Ministers. Manolita Ly, 52, will begin serving as French Polynesia’s minister of Social Works and Employment in November. She has previously worked as a psychologist and associate director for social services and special assistant to the president of French Polynesia. Her favorite Bible text is Matthew 25:35 – “I was hungry and you fed me...” She’ll join fellow Adventist Church member Thomas Mouthame, Minister of Agriculture, on the presidential cabinet.
