Although Steps to Christ is one of Ellen White’s well-known books among Adventists around the world, it is a still a new book to some Adventists in the Middle East and North Africa Union (MENA) territory.

“Many of our members have never read this classic before,” said Michael Eckert, coordinator for MENA literature ministries. “We want our members to read this book and experience its power.”

Rick McEdward, president of the church’s regional headquarters in the Middle East and North Africa, is one of many people who have been inspired by Steps to Christ.

“I first read Steps to Christ when I was 17 years old,” said McEdward. “Each page held a new insight for deepening my walk with Jesus.”

McEdward’s personal experience convinced him about the church’s translation and distribution project for Steps to Christ in the region. He believes if every member in MENA reads the book and follows its principles, it will help each person to have a deeper connection with God.

MENA executive committee members and staff celebrated the presentation of Steps to Christ on November 20 as the special book for the 2018 spiritual revival initiative in the Middle East and North Africa territory.

During the event, a special prayer of dedication was given by G.T. Ng, executive secretary of the Seventh-day Adventist world church, for the blessing of the book and the members.

In six different languages, including Arabic, Farsi, Turkish, Kurdish, English and French, Adventist members across the union will connect over the same book, beginning on January 8, 2018. Nearly all church members in MENA will be able to read Steps to Christ in their mother tongue.

The plan is that church members read a chapter a day and share the book with others.  Each member will receive a special study guide to accompany their reading plan.

Billy Biaggi, world church vice president, affirms the plan compellingly. “Who is the person we love and we want to see in Heaven?” said Biaggi. “Let’s approach them with a meaningful book that will help to change lives!”
