Efate, Vanuatu | Vania Chew

A Vanuatu member of parliament postponed important appointments to attend and officially open the 7th Adventist Music Festival of Efate, running from June 7 to 11.

This annual gospel singing event was initiated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 2012 to celebrate the Adventist movement in Vanuatu.

The Honorable Minister of Internal Affairs, Andrew Solomon Napuat, said the program was special because it promoted original songs from singing groups. “I believe in the process of composing songs, artists dig deeper into the Bible and as they do it, it changes them and will change the people who listen to them sing,” he commented.

More than 40 groups were scheduled to sing their original compositions at the music festival. The theme of this year’s festival is “Gospel in Every Act”, meaning that the gospel of Jesus can be shared by everyone, anywhere and anytime when one uses the talents God has blessed them with.

Napuat said that he planned to attend the remaining evenings of the festival with his family and would encourage his fellow MPs to attend.

For those unable to attend the event in person, the festival was live-streamed on the “Adventist Music Festival – Sounds Of Hope” Facebook page.
