San celebrates mums

Adventist hospital holds special event for mothers who have had a baby in the past 24 months.

Sydney, Australia | Tracey Bridcutt

In an early celebration for Mother’s Day, hundreds of moms, babies, doctors and midwives gathered on the front lawn of Sydney Adventist Hospital for the fifth annual San Teddy Bears Picnic.

Under sunny skies, the event featured special music, a complimentary morning tea and a “goodie bag” for each mom. The youngsters were entertained by children’s TV presenter Justine Clarke and a variety of other activities.

The Teddy Bears Picnic is an invitation-only event for mothers who have had a baby at the San over the past 24 months. It is an opportunity for them to catch up with other moms, and with the San’s obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians and women’s health staff.

For the second year Adventist Media ran a booth at the event—promoting its Mums At The Table ministry by handing out balloons to children and magazines to mums.
